The plant tissue is dead and the roots are damaged but the plant crown lives on. Think of the plant crown as the growing point for turf plants. There are three factors that contribute to dog spots:
High nitrogen content – High nitrogen can burn grass
High salt content – High salt can affect osmosis with the result of inhibiting water to the plant
High pH – Dog urine is usually a 6 -7 in terms of pH. If above 7, it contributes to browning.
